Instructions

In order to use Lotsurf, you will need to register your details with us so that we know who you are. You can do this on the Registration page. You will be asked to fill out a form to give us your name, address, and contact details, and to select a username and password, which you will use to login.

When you have read and agreed to our terms and conditions, and submitted your completed registration form, we will send you an email with details of how to complete your registration. The process is as simple as clicking a link in the email and then entering your username and password for the first time. You will have to complete your registration before your membership becomes active.

Once logged in, you will be able to bid on lots in our auctions and use the My Lotsurf area, where you can keep tabs on the items that you are bidding on.

To login, simply enter your username and password into the “user login” area at the top right corner of the website.

If you have forgotten your username, password, or both, please click HERE to retrieve them. You will need to know, and have access to, the email address you used to register with Lotsurf.

Sometimes, our automated verification email is blocked by spam filters. Some email providers do this to all automatically produced emails by default as part of the ongoing battle against spam in our inboxes. This means that the email will be either deleted before you see it, or it may be moved to a “spam”, “junk”, or “bulk” mail folder. (This is especially true of AOL email, but some other providers also have similar strict spam filters).

Please check your “Bulk mail”, “Spam”, or “Junk mail” folder before calling us.

If you do not know where to look for spam email folders, please contact your IT department or your Internet Service Provider.

If you have checked your spam folders and still cannot find our email, please Contact us and provide us with your email address.

It is a good idea to “whitelist” Lotsurf.com to ensure that you receive bid confirmations, outbid notices and invoices from us in the future. If you do not know how to do this, please contact your IT department or Internet Service Provider.

There are several ways to find items on which you wish to bid. You can:

  • Search for items by entering keywords in the search area at the top of the website.
  • Browse items for sale by category.
  • Click on “Auctions” and browse each auction’s catalogue.

Whichever option you use, you will be presented with a listing of search results. To view more detail on an item, click on the photo or description of the item.

Ensure that you are aware of the location and collection arrangements for the lot you are bidding on.

To bid, click “BID” on the item description page and follow the instructions. Enter your maximum bid. When other users bid on the same lot, Lotsurf will automatically increase the price by set increments up to your maximum bid.

Example:
Current price is £100

Bidder 1 bids £1000
Current price changes to £200.
Bidder 1 is the highest bidder.

Bidder 2 bids £500.
Current price changes to £600.
Bidder 1 is still the highest bidder.

Bidder 2 bids £2000
Current price chances to £1100.
Bidder 2 is now the highest bidder.

Lotsurf will send you an email if another bidder outbids you, so that you have a chance to enter a higher maximum bid to secure the lot you are bidding for.

Each time a lot receives a bid, three minutes are added to its ending time. This ensures that bidders are not beaten at the last second by bidders wishing to take advantage of the fact that each auction has a cut-off time. In this way, we keep our auctions fair – if you are the highest active bidder, you will not lose out because of someone else’s tactical bidding.

During the course of an auction, you will probably want to know about the progress of each of your lots.

You can view information about auctions you are bidding on, and auctions you have won. You can also change your password and registration details from the “My Lotsurf” area.

At the end of the auction you will receive an email informing you that you have won the lot.

Your invoice will follow with full details of what to pay.

We accept payment using the following methods:

(i) In cash *
(ii) By telegraphic transfer (BACS or CHAPS)

We are unable to accept payment using credit cards, through online payment services (eg Paypal), or by cheque.

Please ensure that you have read our Terms and Conditions before bidding. Please also read the Notice to Purchasers for the auction upon which you are bidding. Links to the Notice to Purchasers can be found on the lot description page for each and every lot on Lotsurf.

* We cannot accept cash transactions in excess of £10,000 (€15,000).
